You know the kind: the ones that get caught on your crochet hook half the time.

Namely, this kind, in Iced Mint.

Add this to a pattern that makes copious use of puff stitches... Yeah. What little hair I have left is quickly vacating my noggin.

But! I'm approaching the halfway point, so that's a good sign that I haven't flipped and decided this is too much of a PITA to finish.

A New Reason to Make Stuff!

So, apparently my youngest brother is going to be a father. Holy moly!

So this is my opportunity to be all super-crafty and awesome. My first planned project is a crocheted afghan. In particular, I like the idea of the Baby's ABCs Afghan. It's simple and cute and it'll do the trick quite nicely, I think!

And after that, I can make clothing. Ohboyohboy. Hoodies and socks and hats and mittens and all sorts of fun stuff.

And I'll do it in green, for lack of knowledge of the gender of the kiddo. Green is good.

To Sock or Not.

Okay. So this site is called Sockrocker and all, but even so, I have yet to get up the courage to knit socks. I know, I know. You don't have to say it.

Over the weekend, I went camping with a whole load of really fantastic people, Faeries, knitters, impromptu chefs, singers, the lot. And! There was someone there who let me see the socks-on-two-circulars thing in action, which had previously baffled me bigtime. It looks easy! Golly! I mean, I still have to contend with the scary turning-the-heel bit, but at least I can rest easy in the fact that I won't have to jab myself silly with a bunch of DPNs.

So heck, I might go pick up some #2 circulars within the next few days and give it a shot. I've had the sock yarn sitting in my stash, calling to me, begging me to give it a chance.

Hold on, honey. We'll get to you.

Teddy Hat!

Okay, so I did my first me-designed knit thing, and I'm going to share it with the world. Oh yes. Glory.

Well, I mean... I've done chintzy other stuff that requires no brain, like scarves and plain ol' afghans and such, but I don't think those count, because they're just "cast on, knit/crochet like a mofo 'til you're done".

ANYWAY.

Behold, the mighty Teddy Hat:

D'aww.

I picked up the yarn on clearance at Creative Habitat, because it looked bloody perfect for a bearish hat. It's hard to see in photos, but the yarn is essentially brown, with an "aura" of grey fuzz. It's Sierra Pacific "Cherish". It must be discontinued, because I'm not able to find it anywhere online. I mean, I must have searched Google for a good three minutes. For serious.

By the way, if you want the pattern for the hat, you can have it. It's a PDF. It's also up on Ravelry.

FIRST LOLOL

Hi kids. I'm Bas. I make things. This is probably the 235635673245th recreation of this website, but hey, it might end up having an appropriate name once and for all.

Maybe.

Either way, I'll be storing my various projects and things here. With pictures. Ohoho.

Knitting, crochet, whatev. We'll see how long I can keep up with the actual blogging.
